The one with the message

Typhoon, tsunami, earthquake... Something tells me Gaia is PISSED...

So, what have we done for Mother Nature lately? I am guessing not much. There many things that we mortal humans tend to take for granted. We are all so set in the way we do things that we do not see that what we do impacts Gaia's health.

The way I see it, there are many things we can do on a personal level to make things better, or at least not make Gaia's health worse. Personally, here are some things that I aspire to do to play my part.

1. Use water only when needed. Don't leave water running idly either purposely or accidentally.
2. Turn off whatever electrical stuff when not in use, especially when it comes to lights and power points
3. Stop using plastic bags. In fact, paper bags are not so good as well, as you need trees to make paper.
4. Stop using those polystyrene boxes when packing food.

May not seem like much, but if I can get 10 people to follow suite, and these 10 get 10 more of their own and we continue down this road, it will make a difference.

Cheerz....

The one with all the new stuff

I have to admit. It has been a long time since I last wrote anything in this blog. So I guess it's time to put something in here just to get things going. So what better info to put in than all the new stuff that has been happening in my life. Alritey then, lets get started...

New Toys

Probably the best creation ever (in my opinion anyway), one of my new fav aquisition, the Playstation Portable. It may not have the best games compared to the PS3 or the Xbox 360, but my favourite part about it is that it's PORTABLE. It goes wherever I go. And the games are not too bad either.

Then, there's the Nintendo DS. Didn't really buy this for myself, but I play it often enough to get a good kick out of it. Totally different gaming experience from the days of Heli-Battle.

I have been a mobile worker from the get-go so it would only make sense to make my mobile working experience more interesting, and to do that, I decided to get a wireless broadband service for myself. Of course being a very loyal mobile phone user, I decided to fall back to the same operator services for my broadband needs.

I've always had a thing for jigsaw puzzles and found a new, very interesting jigsaw puzzle-type thingy, but in 3D. It's made of some kinda plastic foam material, pieced together to form shapes of animals or robots. The one that attracted me most were the dinosours. They call it 'metasaurs' or something like that.

I've had my PS2 for quite some time now but decided that it's time for an upgrade. No, I did not get the PS3 nor do I intend to. But I wanted a new and different gaming experience and something that I can share with my loved one. So, I went out and bought myself a new Nintendo Wii. Fun for kids of all ages, from 8 to 80.
Next on the list, I needed something to replace my damn handphone. It was giving me so much trouble to the point that I decided I wouldn't mind changing it even after less than a year of usage. So, back to the drawing board. But this time, I could take HTC off the list. So, what choices did I have left?? Nokia?? Sony Ericsson?? LG?? Samsung?? Then Maxis announced a wonderful news, something that many people were waiting for; the launch of iPhone 3G. I guess you can tell what happened next. Yup... got myself an iPhone 3G. The only sore spot about it was that Maxis announced the sale of the iPhone 3GS 4 months after that. But, what the heck, I'm still happy with what I've got.
That's pretty much all the new toys that I have gotten since the last I wrote in this blog. But there are still a couple of things that I still have in my wishlist, like the Xbox 360. But of course before I get this, I need to go get myself an LCD TV first. Hopefully by the time I get down to it, the LCD TV era has not passed yet :P

New Obsession

Don't worry, this is not some psycho, stalking people type of obsession thing. I'm talking about TV shows. For those who know me, my biggest two fav TV shows are Gilmore Girls and FRIENDS. It's not that I don't like them anymore, but just added a couple of new shows to the mix.

Will & Grace
This is one of the few shows that can make me laugh just a hard as FRIENDS despite watching it over and over and over and over again. It's about 2 best friends, Will Truman, a gay lawyer and his best friend, Grace Adler, a straight Jewish woman running her own interior design firm, and their two very eccentric yet likable friends, Jack McFarland, a gay actor-wannabe, and rich socialite Karen Walker, whose character can only be describe in a blog of it's own. Truly one of the best sitcoms I've seen since FRIENDS. After FRIENDS, there are not many sitcoms that can actually catch my attention but I'd say the Will & Grace did a good job. Funny as heck, but you'd need to understand lots of American culture to get some of the punchlines.

Bleach
No, I am not going into fashion design or anything like that. Bleach is actually the name of a manga and anime series that I am so very much into right now. So much so that I've got Bleach games on my PS2, Wii, DS and PSP (4 of them on PSP). I've even got original versions of the entire series, almost up to date with the official release. That's how crazy I am about it.

Last but not least, there's the new love of my life.

The one with the one hour hair-cut

Every once in a while, we all like to pamper ourselves, go to a spa, get a massage, go to the hair saloon, a mani & pedi treatment, a facial... You would think that after a hard week at work, the one thing you would want to do during the weekend was to relax and enjoy and give yourself a little treat. I, for one, think that the best way to enjoy and relax is just to either hang out at home doing almost nothing, or hanging out with friends, watching movies or karaoke-ing. I dare say that I am not the kind of guy who pampers myself by getting a massage or going to the spa and I only visit the hair saloon when I need to (that's like once every 2 months???).

Today happens to be one of those days after 2 months that I needed to get a hair cut. And later today, I would be catching a movie with some friends. So I had it all planned. Leave my place at about 11am, get my hair cut, reach One Utama roughly around 12 noon, enjoy my Star Bucks fix and get some work done, all before the movie. So, I got to the hair saloon at about 11:15am. To my surprise, it had just opened. So I went in and sat down at one of the saloon chairs when the boss came up to me and asked me if I wanted to wash my hair. Initially I said no, but then I eventually agreed to it... which was a big mistake.

To those FRIENDS-natics out there, do you remember the episode where Monica gave Chandler a back massage which was so bad that Chandler thought he was going to die????? Well, I felt like that. Here this guy was, with his big-ass hands trying to squeeze the bejezuz out of my head, as he was scrubbing away at my hair. Fortunately he did not have long fingernails, or it would have been like combing my hair with a metal comb. Then, as all hair washes go apparently, he starts to 'massage' my neck. Now, I say massage just to be kind, but it actually felt like the guy was trying to do the Vulcan Death Grip on me. And to make things worse, all this squeezing and scrubbing and Vulcan Death Gripping went on and on and on for like 45 minutes....!!!

So after washing out all the gunk out of my hair, I told the guy to hurry it up as I was kinda in a rush. In actually fact I was getting restless and wanted to get out of there... FAST... The hair cut only took about 10 minutes (I don't have that much hair) and then I was done... after one whole hour. And 45 minutes of that was spent on washing my hair... I don't even wash my hair that long. In fact, I don't even bathe that long.

I paid and got out of there and here I am now, bitching about it... He he he... I think it's time for me to look for a different hair saloon to go to. I wonder if those 10-minute hair cut places are any good?

The one with the new mobile

I've been using the Nokia N70 for close to three years now and previously, other than a few 'minor' scratches here and there, the phone was working fine. At least until a couple of months ago. My N70 decide to behave like a PC, and starting hanging all the time. Fortunately for me, all this 'hanging' did not happen during critical times like in the morning before I wake up (I rely on my mobile to be my alarm clock). However, after a couple of months of restarting my mobile on a regular basis, I decided that it was time to change.

Being the person that I am, it took me a few more months to decide what new mobile to buy and another few months to decide if I wanted to buy it or not. So it came down to a couple of choices; Nokia N95, HTC Touch, and Apple iPhone. Being a Nokia user for so long, it was only natural for me to have Nokia model in the mix. Plus, I always thought that the Nokia N95 was a good phone, with its large screen and many features. Then, there's the HTC Touch, which is a Windows-powered PDA phone. My dad just got an LG PDA phone so I was intrigued with the idea of owning a PDA phone as well. Then of course, the widely talked-about Apple iPhone; slick design, knock-out features and not to mention something totally new in the mobile market.

After long deliberation, the final winner is... (drum roll)...

the HTC Touch...

I am not going to elaborate on the features. You can click on the link to find out more about it. All I will say about this mobile is that it is really slim and feature-packed for a PDA phone and of course, being Windows-powered, there are many applications out there that can be installed into the mobile. As for the Nokia N95, everything was good except for the fact that it was a little too pricey for me. I don't see the need to to spend that much on a mobile. And the iPhone, with all its niceties and what not, did not come with warranty or support (because it is not officially being sold here in Malaysia yet). So, that was a major drawback. I find it risky to buy something so expensive and not have any support for it in case anything happens to it.

Well, in any case, so far, I'm quite satisfied with my HTC Touch but will still need to do lots of customization to the settings and stuff before it will be considered fully operational to me.

Cheers...

The one with all the 'WHY's

Do you ever wonder why things happen in your life? Do you ever wonder why a person who begs for a new job and gets it is given a chance of a better job after accepting the first job? Do you ever wonder why a person would fall in love with another person only to find out that it wasn't meant to be? Do you every wonder why a person with such a good heart and soul would have to see go through the turmoil of seeing a loved one suffer for a terrible illness? You always hear or see in the movies that things happen for a reason, that there is always a silver lining behind every grey cloud.

But I for one, DO NOT see the silver lining. I do not understand why things happen the way it does, and I definitely do not know why things turn out the way it does. Things happen for a reason??? I am yet to see the reason for things to happen to me the way that it has. So I ask you this... Do you see the reason why...???

The one with the wedding reception

No... not mine... Hehehe...

Tomorrow is Bud's wedding reception, something that I guess she has been waiting and planning (and stressing out about) for a long time. I must say, looking at the somewhat limited wedding photos (*** hint hint ***) of Bud and her hubby, they make a really cute couple and they belong together. I do not know Kelvin well but for as long as I have know Bud, that's how long I have heard of Kelvin. I know that they are happy together and from the very bottom of my heart, I wish them all the happiness in the world forever and ever.

PS: Bud, just so you know, I am giving up laundry day and house chores to attend your wedding... hiyak hiyak hiyak...
